Can my bell-trained puppy use a balcony pee pad on vacation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 11 months and 17 days old | 8 lbs

Our puppy is 11 mnths and is trained to ring a bell and go outside to do her business. She will be staying with my Mom when we are on vacation, and she lives in a 2nd floor apartment. My question is, would it be okay to put the bell on the door to the balcony, then put a “grass” pee pad out there for her to use? We leave in 2 days.

Yes you can but if she is used to do her business on the ground with real grass she might not urinate on the pee pad and she has to be walked outside. I suggest to try the pee pad and show it to Chole at home before you leave. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. I hope my answer was helpful.
