Why is my kitten sick with eye gunk, diarrhea, and closed eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 8 days old | 0.03 lbs

my kitten has eye gunk that’s been going on for about two weeks, and it seems recently it’s had diarrhea. It tends to keep its eye shut a lot. It’s constantly scratching and and it’s lighter than the other kittens. Please help me. I really love my kitten

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Diarrhea could be due to something like parasites for instance which is treated with medications or it may be transient. I highly recommend that you have Tequila evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!
