My dog drank sweetened almond milk. Is it safe? What about xylitol?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 10 lbs

I spilled a bit of sweetened almond milk on the floor (not yet a cup) and my dog had 6-10 sips of it. I’m concerned that it may contain xylitol, which I know is toxic for dogs. Will my dog be okay after drinking a small amount of sweetened almond milk, or do I need to call my local vet?

According to the list of ingredients on the package this almond milk does not contain xylitol but cane sugar as a sweetening agent. So, in that respect you do not have to worry about your dog having ingested xylitol with this almond milk. I think the worst that will happen is that your dog may get a little diarrhea from the almond milk, if this was a new food to him.
