Pet's info: Dog | Hovawart | Female | unspayed | 83 lbs
I am rescuing an 8 year old Hovawart bitch from France and her foster carer says her only known issue is that she overguards in the home with other dogs. She was left in a house when her owners moved out. We only have one visiting dog, my daughter’s French bulldog. Are we best to have him already in the home when we bring our rescue in for the first time, so she sees him as an existing dog into whose territory she is entering, or to do a slow introduction? She is good with dogs outside the home

I would keep the frenchie in the home and keep them on leashes when they first meet so you have more control over the situation. let them sniff each other through a door way, then let them see one another and take it step by step based on their reactions. If the environment is new to her, then she is unlikely to be territorial at the start until she gets comfortable. But if she is dog aggressive in general then she will have problems with the frenchie and you will have to keep them separate
