My kittens have eye infections, can't afford vet. What can I do?

Hi! Please, help us. We cant go to the vet, because we cant afford. We have asked a vet and said we should gave them with Kanamicina cream, and we did, but there are slightly any changes. What can we do?

Both your kittens have a very serious eye infection and possibly an upper respiratory infection as well. Check locally if there are low cost veterinary clinics in your area possibly connected with the local shelter. Since I am not sure that you are in the US ( the given zip code does not look right) I cannot help you with finding any charities which may be able to help you with veterinary costs. You can usually find those when you search for "Help with veterinary fees" or similar querys on the internet. Your kittens really need antibiotics other than Kanamycin ointment.

Go to the pharmacy and ask for Teramycin eye drops. if they don't have it any other antibiotic eye drops (without steroids) will do. if i'm not mistaking those eye drops are sold over the counter in India. you will need to apply the eye ointment or eye drop 4 times a day until the eye infection resolves.

They most likely have upper respiratory infections (URI) and will need antibiotics (both oral and topical in the eyes). If you are going to adopt/rescue kittens you need to be able to afford veterinary care. They are going to need vaccines, deworming and to be spayed/neutered as well. So, if you can't afford their treatment you should consider relinquishing them to the local Humane Society so they can get treated. This is not something you can treat at home, I'm sorry to say. All that being said, there are many low cost/affordable vet clinics in your area (based on the zip code you provided) so if you really want to keep them then find a clinic and get them treated. Unfortunately no, this does have to be treated by a vet. The medication needed is prescription only, and leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would see if you can borrow money from family and friends, go to a low cost clinic, see if you can get a payment plan with the vet, or apply for Care Credit online to afford a bet. Best of luck.

Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Lady to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Lady to scratch or rub her eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. I'm sorry that you are having this issue. I know the vets are far away but she really needs to see one. That left eye looks very bad and I'm not sure home treatment will help. The eye looks swollen and you can't even actually see the globe (eyeball) - it may be abnormal/injured. That eye looks painful and the kitten looks very unhappy. Please try to get her to a vet. In the meantime, the only thing I can recommend you do is keep the eye rinsed out with saline solution. 2 of my 4 newborn kittens have eye infection. What is the best treatment that I should do to help them? How can I help them cured? Is it true that I should clean their mother's nipples so that the others two don't get infected?
Poor kittens! Eye infections can be viral or bacterial. Unfortunately you’re not likely to clear an eye infection with at home care. Just like with humans, these guys require antibiotic eyedrops which you will need to get from the veterinarian. I recommend to call your clinic and make an appointment ideally today. Eye infections in young kittens can become serious and cause permanent damage to the corneas. Bring the whole litter and the mother. Certainly cleaning off the teats and the rest of the environment will help but all the kittens have been exposed at this point. Oh these poor little kitties! Thank you for taking them in. They truly need veterinary care because they need to have the eyes checked to be sure they don't have corneal ulcerations, and they likely need medicated eye ointment or drops that is not available over the counter. I would make an appointment at the vet to see them ASAP. In the meantime, you can try to gently remove the crusted debris around their eyes by holding a clean wet cloth over the soiled fur to help soften the discharge and attempt to wipe it off or brush it out. You can also try to rinse the eyes with sterile eye wash available at most pet stores but they do truly need veterinary care to treat the condition. Best of luck to you and your kitties.
