My dog ate a roach killed with Raid and vomited. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 months and 26 days old | 12 lbs

I think she ate a dead cockroach that was killed with “Raid” before I could pick it up, what can this do to her? She vomited, and she’s keeping her distance... should I be worried? She’s alert, and she wags her tail, walks around, she was palying with a plastic bottle, but she prefers to stay on the floor which she usually prefers to be on the bed at this hour.

She will likely be just fine. A small amount of raid left on a roach isn't going to cause any serious issues for your pet. At the very least she may have an upset stomach. In which case you can feed her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days, and then slowly transition her back to her normal diet. If she doesn't seem to be recovering from the stomach upset as expected after 12-24 hrs, then its best to just haver her checked by your vet and given some supportive treatment to help her stomach settle quicker. Otherwise she should recover well and likely vomited up most of the irritant. Best wishes with your pet Leia moving forward. Take care.
