It would be impossible to get a small enough dose measured out for a 1.5 pound kitten, therefore, it is not recommended. You can, however, use the Panacur liquid but that needs to be given once a day for 3-5 days in a row and is rather expensive. It can be purchased over the counter. Follow the dosing recommendations on the bottle. Here is how to figure it out: Body weight in pounds divided by 2.2 gives you the body weight in kg. For example, a 12 pound cat is 5.45 kg. Then, take the kg weight and multiply it by 5 -- in the example above, the 12 pound (5.45 kg) cat would get 27.27 mg of the pyrantel. Hello, yes you can sprinkle the panacur (if powder) onto her food to eat. Even if you have a liquid formula you may still mix it with her food. Nothing special just treat at 5mg/kg (1lb=0,45kg) once. Pyrantel is usually given as a single dose that is repeated in two to three weeks to kill any parasites that have matured during that time. I would deworm them with Panacur. Intestinal worms are very common in kittens, causing diarrhea. You can get Panacur from your vets office. It’s a three day course of treatment that you will need to give again two weeks after the first ends. This kills all the worms. They should then be dewormed every two weeks until they are three months old, then monthly until six months of age, after which they should be dewormed every three months. If the Panacur doesn’t help with the diarrhea, I would take them into the vet for a health check. As a side note, they are now old enough for a kitten formulated food.
