My dog changed after owner left. Why is she hiding and not eating?

My dog hides under the bed all the time she used to come running to me when I get home she dosent do that anymore she don't want to go outside she don't eat a lot my boyfriend had a stroke in April still in hospital she changed after her daddy didn't come back I know she misses him I don't know what to do I'm worried she has changed so much please I hope you can give me some answers. I am so sorry to hear that you and Trixie are going trough this traumatic time. Dogs certainly can have behavior changes related to changes in their environment, especially if she has a close bond with your boyfriend. But, she could also be trying to tell you she does not feel good. It would be a good time to see your family veterinarian for a visit. At the visit you could also discuss the possibility of her going to see your boyfriend. I would then ask his doctors if it is at all possible to arrange her to come for a visit and dependent on this discussion your veterinarian may be able to help make this possible (making sure she is healthy, etc.).
