What causes a dog to cough and wheeze for more than two weeks?

Dog is weasing coughing out of nowhere. He will be in bed with me and start caughing but it’s been over 2 weeks and sill there so no kennel caugh... do you have any ideas what it could be ? I have a video if it can help? Thanks. Pet's info: Dog | Parson Russell Terrier | Male | neutered | 2 years and 2 months old | 25 lbs

Your dog ccould be suffering from allergies, an upper respiratory infection, some foreign body in his airways, even a tumor or a heart condition. Please take Peter to a vet for an exam. The vet will likely want to take radiographs to assess his lungs and heart and airways. Hopefully it is just a minor problem. Kennel cough can last up to 6 weeks.
