Why are yellow things still in my dog's poop after tapeworm meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cairn Terrier | Male | unneutered | 17 lbs

My dog, 17lbs has been fighting tapeworms and I’m at my wits end. I hope you can help. They’ve now taken Praziquantel (2 34mg pills) twice (3wks apart) Every time, even right after a dose I still see little dark yellow ball like shapes in their poop. Rarely will I ever see the stereotypical white pieces that move (maybe once a month). Praziquantel is suppose to help kill pretty much all tapeworms I’ve been told, so what’s going on? I’ve attached a picture of my dogs poo. He was treated yesterday

Those yellow things don't look like the typical tapeworm. I would recommend to take the sample (containging the yellow things in question) to the vets office to have them look at it under a microscope. That will be able to show if it is eggs of the tapeworms or not. A fresh sample is best for testing. I hope things get figured out for Corky!
