My dog has white spots on his nose and whiskers, what are they?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 50 lbs

My 1 year old German Shepard mix has some white spots immediately next to his nose on his snout, and where his whiskers are. It doesn't seem to hurt or bother him, and they are not raised or filled with anything. I can't tell if it's an allergy or rash, or if he just got them wrestling with his sister.

Trauma from playing is possible, but some bacterial or fungal infections can look similar. If the spots aren’t improving in a week or if they seems to be getting larger I’d recommend having Dublin examined by your vet.
