Why is my dog panting and unstable after starting seizure meds?

Hi My 6 year lab dusky had her first seizure 25 days ago and then 2 seizures yesterday in a gap of 4 hours. On my vets instruction we have started giving her phenobarbital 60mg twice. She has been panting heavily and has not appeared stable. Please help. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 45 lbs

It can take a while for the dog's body to adjust to the medication. I suspect that is having the signs you have described from the phenobarbital. Her signs should resolve over several weeks.
