Hank has big pointy ears. Every year around summer time the tops of them get brown and get scabs. One ear even looks like it has a deep dip in it. He’s an inside dog and only goes out to use the bathroom maybe 4-5 times a day and is only out for maybe 10-15 mins tops each time. He has a flea bath once a month and I never see a single flea on him. I don’t know what it causing this.

There could be a few different things going on. I would first have a vet skin scrape him to make sure there are no mites. I would also recommend Simparica, Nexguard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention. The reason being is they can also be used to help treat mites if that is the cause. It could also be allergy related since it is the same time every year and I would discuss different allergy options with your vet. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
