Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 9 years old | 7.2 lbs
3 months ago I noticed a lump the size of a grape under his right hind leg, I talked to my vet and she said I should only worry if it started to get bigger. Since then it didn't grow up, i'm certain it's an abscess. I want a second opinion: should I leave it there since my rabbit seems to be fine or should I get it aspirated? I read abscesses when popped are hard to heal and could get worse, and he's 9yo so i'm afraid of surgeries. Is there a problem if I leave it even if doesn't grow anymore?

Even though a picture of it would help to determine the underlying cause and give you more specific advices, this kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors.
