My cat has diarrhea, won't eat, and is on antibiotics. Is he okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 7.275 lbs

My cat is diagnosed with infection that is why his poop is kind of liquid and he doesn't eat for two days now. We give him antibiotics and water with monosaccharide sugar (Mondex) but he still doesn't eat, drink few waters and still look unwell. We're still on the first day of antibiotics though. The vet advised to give it to him for 5 days. Is it okay if he still is not feeling well? I was just so worried.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Since you are in day 1 of the antibiotics I think it would be fair to give it a bit more time to see if Musika gets better. You can try to entice his appetite with things like tuna, tuna water and chicken. If his appetite does not improve by tomorrow, let your veterinarian know as anorexia can be detrimental to a cat's health. Good luck and have a great day!
