Why does my rescued kitten have a leg lump that inflates after peeing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

We rescued a kitten and she seems to have a round mass on her back inner leg area. It seems to inflate after she urinates.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Without examining Jinxy it is difficult to say for sure what the cause could be. This could be a hernia due to trauma or some congenital defect. It would be best to have a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
