My puppy is limping, getting worse, but still playful. When to vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

We have had Teddy for about 2 weeks. He is around 6 months old and had a slight limp. After a few days it seems to have gotten worse, but when we inspect his legs and paws there's nothing stuck, no sore spots or him pulling away, he still runs and plays like a happy pup. What can I do to help make this better and at what point should I consider going to the vet? He isn't showing any discomfort or pain so I'm not sure what could be causing it. Could it be serious if he seems happy and playful?

I would have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning. If he has just started limping, I would have recommended resting him, but since he has been limping for a few days and it's gotten worse, now is the time to see a vet. He is in pain because he's limping (limping is a sign of pain dogs). It could be that he strained or torn a ligament or muscle. I strongly recommend having him seen by a vet in the morning. Best of luck.
