My dog's pyometra post-surgery incision is swollen. Is it normal?

My dog had pyometra and had surgery 8 days ago...a part of the incision is swollen ...is that normal?

It would be good to see a picture of her incision to see if it's normal or not, but I can say that swelling can be a sign of infection. It would be best to have her checked out by a vet, as if her incision is swollen, she will need antibiotics. I would take her into a vet in the morning. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

    Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The incision itself looks quite swollen though if you make sure that she does not lick or chews at it, it may heal. However, I am concerned that based on your description, she may be painful or uncomfortable. I think for that reason, a recheck examination with your veterinarian is warranted.
