My cat's nose is swollen, sneezing, and scratching. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 23 days old | 10 lbs

My cat seems like something might be up her nose.. in the middle of the night while we were sleeping she sneezed and started to seem like she was panicking and scratching at her nose aggressively. It’s been a little over a day now and the inside of her nostril is swollen and she’s very sneezy and keeps pushing at her nose which it’s making it more irritated and cause the side of her face to swell.. is there anything I can do? I am planning on taking her to the vet.

Poor Poppy! I am concerned that the side of her face is starting to swell, and it sounds like whatever is going on is really bothering her. Because of that, I would not wait until the morning to have her sen by a vet, I would take her into one now. I would be worried that if you wait, she could start having difficulties breathing. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
