My 7-year-old Pomeranian won't get up. Is this an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | 7 years old

My Pomeranian is 7yrs old. She just started acting up this morning. She does not want to get up from her bed. She just lays around and has her eyes shut. She just got up twice this whole day and stayed located at one spot. Is this something serious that needs to get checked up right away??

I am so sorry to hear that Molly isn’t feeling well. Her non specific symptoms don’t give me much to go by, bit based on her age and breed I would worry about back pain, fever from many different causes, uterine infection if she is not spayed, kidney disease, and many other possibilities. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Alternatively she could be seen by an emergency veterinarian immediately. After a physical examination the veterinarian should be able to further guide you on what she may need diagnostic and /or treatment wise. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
