My dog is coughing, won't eat or drink, and is barely moving. What's wrong?

Hi, my dog, a standard schnauzer was perfectly fine yesterday, today she started coughing, she is not eating, not drinking and is barely moving around the house... I would like to know what is wrong with her. Pet's info: Dog | Standard Schnauzer | Female | 35 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Romy. I am concerned that she may have a respiratory tract infection based on the symptoms that you have described. She will need to see a veterinarian. It is ideal for her to be seen today as she is not eating and drinking. Given this, it will be easy for her to become dehydrated. Hopefully she just has an upper respiratory tract infection and needs an antibiotic and possibly some fluids if she is dehydrated. Dogs can develop pneumonia though and this would be more serious. Try to encourage her to eat and drink even small amounts. Keep her home and away from other dogs as she may be contagious. I hope this information helps!
