My new puppy cries and shakes. Is she anxious in her new home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Russell Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 28 days old | 5 lbs

What's wrong with my puppy? She's 6 months old and I just brought her home yesterday. She keeps crying and shaking every time I interact with her. But when I leave her alone she just stays in her kennel

It sounds like Sweetie May have some anxiety- not surprising considering she just got brought into a whole new world where everything is different. Be patient with her. Using treats is a great way to decrease anxiety. Sitting next to her kennel and talking to her gently and giving her tiny treats for 10 minutes at a time will go a long way. When she seems comfortable with that, pull her onto your lap and do the same thing again. Best of luck to you and Sweetie.
