My dog is aggressive to people and other dogs. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 3 years old | 62 lbs

We have a hound mix(Istrian shorthaired) that is very high strung and known to be aggresive to people and other dogs. She and her sister have blocked our neighbor onto his dock, but she was the one causing the most trouble. She has also attacked one of our other dogs on numerous occasions. We have only had her for two years but she can be very sweet once she gets to know you. We hope that we don't have to find her a new home or euthanize, but we don't know what to do. Please help!

I would speak to your vet about a referral to a professional behavioral expert for Savannah. I never recommend owners work with aggressive dogs on their own due to safety reasons. Having her seen by a professional behavioral expert is the best way to find out if this aggression can be controlled. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
