My cat keeps scratching the couch. What's the best way to stop her?

Hello, My cat keeps scratching the fabric coach, I've tried covering it with thin foil for about a week, She scratches it once the foil is off it. I've tried sticky tape even spraying (gently) with water, I have scratching posts around it and around the house(she uses them too) how can I stop her from scratching the couch? Thank you

I recommend trying Soft Paws. They are nail caps that you glue onto your cat's claws, and it prevent damage to the furniture when they try to scratch. You can order them online, and you may be able to find them in a pet store. I hope this helps!

    Great question! I'd recommend getting your cat Soft Paws. They are glue on nail covers that prevent cats from scratching on things. You can get them online or in pet stores, and they come in a variety of colors :-)

What can i do to keep my cats from scratching on leather furniture?
This is such a frustrating battle. Here are a few suggestions that may or may not work. You can try giving him something else to scratch on like a tall scratching post or a piece of wood from outside. The scratching post needs to be tall because they like to stretch while scratching. Feliway also make a product now called feliscratch to help redirect the scratching to the scratching post. You can also apply soft paws to their nails so that even if they try to scratch, they won't do any damage. I hope this helps!

Their very first cat scratcher post&they don't like it. How can I get them to like it&scratch the post vs. the side of my bed/sofa.Catnip doesnt work.
It may be that they don't like the scratching post. Cats can be picking about a lot of things, and scratching post is one of those things. Some cats like a vertical one where they can stretch out their spine fully, it should be solid and not wobbly, and some do seem to like ones that have carpet covering on it. I'd also recommend one that has levels for them to sleep on, so they can claim it as their own. The furniture they scratch one, such as your bed and sofa, they also sleep on, so they should have a scratching post that allows them to sleep on it, thus claiming it as theirs. To entice them to use it, I would try dangling a toy over it to get them interested in, and praise them and give them treats when they use it. To keep them from scratching your bed and sofa, you can get Soft Paws. These are caps that you can glue onto your cat's nails to prevent them from scratching on things. You can get them online or in pet stores, and they come in a variety of colors.

I want to start by saying I love my kitten so much. She uses her claws for everything, even when she's just jumping off of my chest or something. We've tried trimming her claws, but she's fights and it's hard to clip them because she moves so much. I
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Shadowcat. Have you tried a product known as Soft Paws? They are soft caps that can be glued onto the nails. If you are unable to apply them at home, your veterinarian will be able to do so for you. I think it would definitely be worth a try! Good luck.

My kitten likes to scratch my wooden chair, doors,and occasionally the door frames. I bought her a wooden cat scratcher with catnip and all she does is bite, sleeps, and lays on it. Do you have any recommendations on what would be a good scratching
Hello, actually the more variety you give her, the more chances you will have to get her to use one or more of the scratching posts. Different substrates, sizes & dimensions are necessary. I have curved, upright & horizontal ones made of carpet, jute & sisal. Keep her nails trimmed ( just take off the sharp point ) or put on glue-on nail caps & your furniture & sanity will be preserved. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

everyone keeps telling me that declawing my cat is bad, but my cat keeps scratching my furniture .what should I do to stop that?
Unfortunately it is very difficult to get them to stop once they start. All you can really do is install a few scratching posts and hope these entice the cat. I would not advocate declawing a cat, it is routinely performed in the US but illegal in the UK. It can make it dificult for them to climb and balance.

I am looking for a spray or something to keep my cat from climbing and scratching on certain places/ furniture in the house. What do you recommend and know that really works?
You can try double-sided sticky tape on surfaces that you don't want her to scratch or climb on - most cats don't like the feel of it on their paws, and will avoid these areas. But, it's also very important to provide her with alternatives for scratching and climbing or else she will continually try to use your furniture and countertops, as these are both normal behaviors for cats. She needs tall cat trees and high ledges or other resting places to climb up to and lay on, as well as a variety of good surfaces for scratching - scratching posts should be tall and sturdy, ideally with a rough texture such as sisal rope rather than carpet. Most cats will readily leave your things alone if you are providing appropriate alternatives :)

Is their anything i can do to get my cat to stop kneading my bed constantly buying new bed covers
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Unfortunately no. I would keep her nails trimmed, cutting them every 2-3 weeks. You can cover your bed with a blanket to protect your good bed cover. And you can apply nail caps. Other options is to keep her off the bed with noise deterrents. My cat refuses to use a scratching post, instead preferring to shred the walls, corners, and door faces to pieces. Catnip doesn't help.
This can be a tough problem - I can sympathize! There are a few things you can do to help. First, make sure that you are providing really good, attractive scratching posts in the areas that your cat wants to scratch - many of the small, carpet-covered ones in pet stores aren't very good. A good scratching post should be at least 3-4 feet tall so that the cat can stretch all the way out when scratching. It should also be heavy and solid - if the post feels flimsy or tips over when the cat scratches, he won't want to use it. Finally, most cats prefer rough coverings like sisal rope or something similar rather than carpet. I would try to get several really good scratching posts and ideally also a few cat trees/climbing structures so that you can have at least one in every room where Pepper spends time. To help discourage scratching on furniture and door faces, you can use double-sided scotch tape over these areas - the tape sticks to their paws when they try to scratch, so they normally c
