Is it safe to travel with my rabbit on an airplane right after neuter surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Male | unneutered | 3 lbs

I have a rabbit And he has become very aggressive. The vet said it’s hormonal behaviour and I wanted to get him neutered. But to have an 11 hours flight with my rabbit the very next morning after surgery. The vet said it’s safe. But I’m not sure . Can you please tell me whether it’s safe to travel with him right after surgery?

Hello. Every rabbit is so different in the way they handle the stress of surgery and the anesthesia. A routine castration on a young healthy rabbit should be a quick recovery and travel would be fine. If there are any issues though, the travel schedule is not ideal. Unfortunately there is no real way to predict. Perhaps you can change the surgery date just in case. Best of luck and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
