My cat has septicemia. Is it contagious to my other cats at home?

I'm very sorry Nubs has septicemia. Sepsis itself is not contagious, but the pathogens that cause can be contagious. You will have to speak to her his vet to find out the cause of his septicemia, and they can let you know if that cause is contagious. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear that your cats are having these problems! It sounds like the newest kitten probably has quite a severe upper respiratory infection causing the sneezing and bloody nasal discharge, along with a nasty eye infection causing the pus in the eyes. These infections are very contagious, so it's very possible for them to be transmitted to other cats in the same house even if you are trying to take precautions to prevent this. Since the infection sounds quite severe, I would recommend taking the kitten (and your other cats, if possible) to the vet for an exam as soon as possible - the entire group may need to be put on antibiotics to treat the infection, and the sick kitten may need additional supportive care as well.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do for Mami at home, she has to see a vet immediately. It sounds like she has mastitis, which is an infection of the mammary glands. Mastitis is life threatening and does require immediate medical attention. To treat it requires antibiotics, which can only be prescribed by your vet. The pus is not contagious, so you don't have to worry about your boys. Please take her into a vet now.

My cat ran away for a few days and came back and I noticed this on her nose while she was eating and wanted to know if it's something that would contract to my other cat
Poor kitty! That looks bad and I bet it's uncomfortable. It's possible that she has a severe infection, a caustic burn, ringworm or autoimmune condition. Of these, only the ringworm is contagious to the other cat (and humans as well). I recommend to get her into the veterinarian quickly as that look bad. She needs medications. Hi, thank you for using Boop by Petco! I am sorry Ojitos is sick but I am glad you had him seen by your Vet. It depends on the cause of the vomiting and diarrhea. If it is viral or bacterial it can be. But if its from eating something gross that is disagreeing with him, food allergy or sensitivity, pancreatitis, intestinal inflammation then no it shouldn't be contagious. Sometimes we never know the reason for the vomiting and diarrhea. I hope this helps and I with Ojitos a speedy recovery!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Kidney failure isn't contagious and is relatively easy to diagnose on blood work based on elevated BUN, creatinine and sometimes phosphorus. I doubt it was diagnosed by mistake. Your other cat sounds like she has an upper respiratory tract infection. It tends to be viral usually in cats but we worry about secondary bacterial infections. It usually runs it's course but if she isn't eating then she should see your Vet. i wish you the best with both cats!

I'm so sorry this happened. Unfortunately despite everyone's best efforts some patients do not respond well to treatment. Yes, sepsis is a strong possibility as is heart failure. Dental infections often migrate to the heart valves and cause sudden death. Without a necropsy (autopsy) I cannot tell you for sure what happened. Again, so sorry for your loss.

My cat has been diagnosed with pseudonomas in her nose/sinus. This has been going on for a month with diagnosis today. She is on an antibiotic. How contagious is this to me?
This is a great question! The scientific name for pseudomonas is Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and it is a bacteria that can infect multiple species including humans. That being said, in order for it to infect humans, there needs to be some sort of skin compromise, such as a skin allergy or other skin problem that can invite a pseudomonas infection. As long as you are not immunocompromised and wash your hands after each time you touch Bey Bey, including after each time you give her medication, you should be fine. If you are truly worried, you can wear disposable gloves while handling her and giving her medication, but that won't be necessary. I hope this helps!

FIP is not contagious cat to cat. It is a rare disease that is really sad because there is no cure. I am so sorry for your loss. Cats get FIP when they contract a virus that then mutates into what is known as FIP. The virus can be contagious but it causes no harm unless it mutates. And it is really rare for it to mutate so the chance of your other cat to also get it would be small. I would ensure that she is on a good high quality cat food and up to date on all of her vaccines. If Oscar is a dog then it is very, very unlikely that he could contract a respiratory infection from Sylvester. Most upper respiratory infections in cats are caused by feline herpesvirus or calicivirus which are not contagious to dogs, however occasionally there are some bacteria that might be contagious to dogs. Ask your vet if you are concerned.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor kittens! Until you get a diagnosis from your Vet I can't answer you on if it is transmittable ti humans. You may also have different diseases in your country than we do in the US. Possible causes of the skin condition are: fleas (people can get bitten), allergies to food or environment (not contagious), demodex (mites not contagious to people) or ring worm which is a fungal skin infection (is contagious to people). Fleas are easy to fix. Allergies are frustrating and can take a while to find the medication and food that works. Demedex is relatively easy to fix. Ring worm can take a long time and oral medications and lyme sulfur dips. I hope this helps and your Vet will be able to get you the diagnosis. I wish you and the kittens the best!
