My indoor dog has lice. How did he get them if he stays inside?

Hi. What is the cause of my dogs lice? He just stays inside our house and doesnt interact with other dogs but i was surprised to see so many lice on him. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 7 months and 23 days old | 6.61 lbs
