No, this will do nothing to help Riniyah with her diarrhea. I do not recommend giving it to her. A common cause of diarrhea in kittens is intestinal worms. If she isn't up to date on her deworming treatments, I recommend giving her one such as Panacur. She will need a second course to treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. A vet visit is also recommended to rule out another medical cause behind her diarrhea. Best of luck.

Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Izumi! She is very cute. I do not recommend giving Metamucil to her. I can't say that it's safe to give her, and you have to be very careful giving human medications to young kittens, as you can accidentally do great harm. In addition, it may not be the right treatment for her diarrhea. For example, diarrhea in kittens can be caused by intestinal worms, which Metamucil will do nothing to help with treatment. You need to take her into a vet as soon as possible, as persistent diarrhea is dehydrating. The vet can diagnose what is causing her diarrhea and can treat her for it. Best of luck.

Hi there! I would recommend taking her into the vet to find out the cause of diarrhea. Diarrhea caused by intestinal parasites can be treated with a simple dose of dewormer- a common brand is called Drontal. If she's having diarrhea because she is sick, she may be at risk for getting dehydrated and needing fluids, nutritional support, or antibiotics. They can test for parasites with a fecal exam and determine is she is stable and hydrated from their physical exam. For now, I would encourage the kitten to eat and drink by adding warm, low salt chicken broth to her food. I hope this is helpful!

There are many possible causes of diarrhea in kittens including worms, viruses and bacterial infections and poor digestion due to a weak gut lining. A full exam and fecal screen is often required in order to investigate fully. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. Consider a veterinary probiotic such as Bene-Bac, ProViable or FortiFlora. You can fast her for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to her regular diet afterwards.

hi there my new kitten has been having diarrhea for 2 days now but she is eating fine and she hasn't been flea or wormed treated or any vacations what should i do to treat it.
I would recommend you take Snow in to your veterinarian for an exam. She likely needs to have her stool checked for intestinal parasites so she can be given the appropriate de-worming medication, as many kittens are born with intestinal parasites. I would also be concerned about potential other causes of diarrhea, such as bacterial overgrowth or viral infections. She also needs to get started on her kitten vaccines and may need medication for the diarrhea and/or a diet change.

I am sorry to hear about your kitten! Unfortunately, GI parasites (such as roundworms, hookworms, giardia, and coccidia) are very common in kittens as a cause of diarrhea. Some of these can be treated with over the counter dewormer such as pyrantel (round and hook worms) but the others require prescription medication for treatment. It can also be difficult to dose the over the counter medication in a tiny kitten. I would recommend an examination by your veterinarian (Bring a stool sample with you) so they can check for these parasites. In the meantime, you can try picking up a probiotic from your vet or the pet store which will often help decrease the severity of diarrhea. Fortiflora by purina is the one we use most commonly (you can get that brand at your vet's office or online).

Poor Gini could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a foreign body. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. At her age this can be from an infection or intestinal parasites. It may be food related also. There are no medications safe to give cats over the counter. You can get a dewormer from pet supply store to give that and pick up a feline probiotic to help to add to her food. Her vet will need to check a fresh stool sample to check for any bacteria or other parasites that may need an antibiotic to further help.

The vet did not have fortiflora ,instead gave me probiotic paste.The paste give her 1cc once aday for 15 days.The last was 8/5/2017,today she started back doing diarrhea today 8/6/2017.she is eating can cat food and drinks water.any idea what coars
You might contact your vet to see if it is safe to increase the dose. If it is ProPectalin AntiDiarrheal Gel, this medication can be given every 8 hours. I would continue with either her current cat food or you can do boiled chicken breast and cooked white rice for a few days, but try not to change up her food too much as that can worsen diarrhea. Other causes of diarrhea in a kitten that may need diagnosis by a vet include food intolerance, food allergies, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, or panleukopenia.

I have recently gotten 2 very young kittens-they are about 4-5 weeks old. (I thought mother had abandoned them.) they are about 4-5 weeks old. One has had one reg. bowel movement but for the most part bothhave diarrhea. I am feeding them with KMR kit
I would deworm them with Panacur. Intestinal worms are very common in kittens, causing diarrhea. You can get Panacur from your vets office. It’s a three day course of treatment that you will need to give again two weeks after the first ends. This kills all the worms. They should then be dewormed every two weeks until they are three months old, then monthly until six months of age, after which they should be dewormed every three months. If the Panacur doesn’t help with the diarrhea, I would take them into the vet for a health check. As a side note, they are now old enough for a kitten formulated food. I would start weaning them onto one. I hope this helps!
