Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Usually it is best to avoid this as Bettas tend to be territorial and aggressive and are generally unhappy when grouped. It is always best to keep them by themselves. Good luck and have a great day!

    Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Good question. Most Betta sold in pet stores are males and no they cannot be housed with other fish species because they will fight the other fish. They are also housed in 1-2 gallon sized aquariums or smaller aquariums by themselves since they fight. Good luck with your fish.
