Why is my senior dog weak and not eating after seizure meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 10 years old | 60 lbs

10 year old German Shepherd started having seizures. Came out of each one and was back to normal. Blood test unremarkable. Put on Pheno B & loss all strength in legs, taken off it Monday not replaced with anything. Still has no strength in body. Head up, alert but will not eat or drink independently. Last night stood up, took one step and went down. Had IV fluids on Monday. Tiny amounts of water and baby food are tolerated.

It's possible that the seizures are due to a brain tumor, which is very likely due to his age. this means his condition will deteriorate regardless of the treatment, sometimes the deterioration takes several months and sometimes it's a matter of days.
