My dog has a deep leg gash. Can liquid bandage work or needs vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years old | 80 lbs

My dog got a gash in his leg from running at the dog park, has a little flesh pushed back. It doesn't seem to hurt him, it's not bleeding and I cleaned it with warm water and some cleaning solution from shoppers drug Mart. I don't think he needs stitches it does look a little deep thought. Can I just use liquid bandage ?? Or will it heal on its own? Thanks.

The skin is quite far apart, it will take quite a long time to heal and there is risk of infection. I recommend to take him at the vet to have I'm checked, have the hair trimmed, the area throughly cleaned l to have a proper look at the wounds and decide the next step. Possibly Rufus will need to have the wound stitched up to approach the skin margin and support a good healing process. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. I hope my answer was helpful.
