Can I put lice medicine in food for stray cats who won't let me close?

Hello. I am feeding food to a lot of stray cats in my neighborhood. I found that a couple of stray cats have lice problem. I want to help but they won't let me get close. Is there any medication that I can mix in the food to help kill lice on them? Thank you very much. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 7 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Unfortunately, there is nothing orally for cats that works to my knowledge. All the options for cats that I am aware of are topical. If you do decide to try a topical product PLEASE read the labels carefully as there are a few that are sold for dogs that are FATAL to cats. I like Advantage II from Bayer. It is over the counter, very effective, and lasts about 4 weeks - long enough to break the life cycle. Unfortunately, all the cats would need to be treated at the same time to prevent re-infestation.
