My new kitten isn't pooping after 3 days, but eats. Is it normal?

I have New Kitten for 3 days. I haven’t notice him pooping. As he was playing guided with the toy he urinated but he hasn’t pooped as far as I know. He might have gone to my other cats litter tray though. He eats well but after food he doesn’t use the toilet at all. Today I sterilised him and the vet told me I can wait with deworming 2 weeks but I am worried about Simba not pooping especially after meal.

Simba may be going in the other cat's litter tray, and I would try to see if you can follow him around to see if you can catch him pooping in the other tray. Kittens do not necessarily poop right after a meal, and it could be he is pooping at night in the other tray while you are sleeping. Given that he is acting normal, I wouldn't be to concerned. If he wasn't pooping at all, you would see other signs lack of appetite, potentially vomiting, straining to poop, and lethargy. Should you see any of those signs, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! You should offer a small amount of food about 3-4 times daily and in really small kittens, every few hours might be needed. Eliminations and the frequency thereof, are dependent on many things depending on food intake, type of food, water intake etc. As long as she is not straining and trying to poop, it could be up to another 24-36 hours. She is getting accustomed to her new and that is probably slowing up the fecal elimination process. Again, no straining to have a bowel movement usually means that everything is ok, especially if the kitten is eating and drinking normally. Just keep monitoring for a bowel movement and monitor behavior, appetite, etc. If things change and you are unsure have your veterinarian evaluate the kitten. I hope everything works out ok.

I've just adopted a 3-4 month old kitten who's been living outside. Since I've had her, which has been almost 24 hours, she hasn't peed or pooped once. But she has eaten and drank water. I don't know what to do and I'm worried something is wrong.
There is no need to be worried, keep her aware of the litter box location several times a day, it's normal for a new kitten to behave this way in the first few days after adoption, don't worry she will be fine.

My 9 week old kitten hasn't pooped since I got him three days ago. He is drinking, eating, urinating and very lively. He seems to be fine and doesn't strain or try to go. Should I be worried?
That could be completely normal as he needs to get used to new environment and food. A differential may be parasite infestation that commonly cause a mild constipation. If the signs persist more than 48hours or if you notice any lethargy, inappetence and any sign of pain a check up would be required. Young kittens will normally toilet frequently, often up to 6 times a day but I would be very concerned by repeated trips to the tray without producing anything as this may indicate an obstruction or severe spasm and inflammation which is quite common in cats and can be triggered by stressful events such as moving house. I recommend an urgent vet check to determine if he is constipated or bladder pain and to prescribe the most appropriate treatment and ongoing management to prevent recurrence. In the meantime I would try to encourage fluids with flavoured water (freshly boiled chicken broth or a little cod liver oil on the water bowl) and provide wet food to maximise fluid intake which can help soften stool and flush the bladder

IF your cat isn't pooping, then she has to be constipated. She needs to see a vet right away to find out why. Also if she isn't pooping, then she would have signs of discomfort and vomiting, so if these signs are not present, then she is likely pooping somewhere in the house that you have not found yet, so it would be advised to look around thoroughly before rushing to your vet. Hello. Really, at this point in time, I would not worry. If she is otherwise happy, eating & drinking normal amounts for her, & grooming herself regularly, then give her a few days. If there is no BM in 3 days, or she becomes lethargic, stops eating, hides, or shows any other abnormal behavior, then have her seen by your veterinarian. But she is maturing, & as her body changes, I would expect some alterations in her normal habits. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

hello, i have a 4 week old kitten and she hasnt pooped yet. should i be worried?
I am not sure how many days she has gone without having a bowel movement. But if she is attempting to poop and straining, then she should see a vet immediately for an enema to help her go and then treatment for long term care. However, if she is not straining and it has been less than 3-4 days since she has pooped, give her time to adjust to whatever new things may be going on around her. Offer her food (Canned food is best @ this age or kitten formula if she has not transitioned yet) like normal and monitor her the next few days to see if she finally goes. Cats are notorious for holding their bowels when they are recently adopted, move, or there's a new introduction to the home. And finally, if you are seeing any other symptoms such as vomiting, decreased appetite, or straining, then Olly should be seen by your vet right away. You can try stimulating her to go as well by using a warm wet cloth. I hope that your furry friend Olly is able to have a bowel movement soon! Best wish

I think you are asking if it is normal that Matias has not defecated since you got him last night and the answer is absolutley yes. Food is often withheld before surgery so he may not have eaten in about 24 hours. If he is eating, do not worry about it. If he is not eating yet, be sure to give any pain medications given to you by the vet or shelter. If he hasn’t eaten by tonight or hasn’t defecated by tomorrrow night, bring him in to the vet. We just got a rescue kitten from a farm and we have no clue how old it is. They told us she was an angora kitten. She also hasnt pooped or peed since we got her which has been about 1 day
I recommend to have your kitten examined today by a veterinarian. Not pooping or peeing is concerning for illness and is not normal. Kittens should urinate at least 4 times a day if not more and have 1 or more bowel movements a day. The veterinarian can also give you an idea on the age of your kitten. Best to play it safe and have Bear examined today.
