Max fell down a metal staircase 2 weeks ago, got hurt. Went to vet. X-rays taken, vet said nothing broken, prescribed 10 day course of Previcox. After taking medication for 6 days Max was still crying when standing up and not running at all. Returned to vet, took another look at X-rays and found a small hairline fracture at the top of Max's right hip bone - not very visible on X-ray. 10 more days of Previcox. No more crying, still limping slightly, runs. Bump on Max's back. Wait or operate?

Hello, sorry to hear about Max. Given the fact that he is improving, you could continue to monitor him at him and keep him rested to allow him to recover. Young dogs can heal very quickly from injuries such as this one. However, if your veterinarian believes, this injury should have surgery, you should follow their recommendations. Otherwise, continue to do what you are doing as it sounds like Max is slowly getting better. Hope this helps and best of luck.
