My cat has bad breath. What water additives or other solutions help?

What water Addictive would you recommend for my cat that has bad breath? Can I give my cat chew toys ? That are meant for his teeth? Does the brand of cat food that I have the reason my cat has bad breath I give him friskies?

I like the CET brand of dental products for animals, so I recommend getting Lumi the CET AquaDent Dental additive. You can get it online or find it in a pet store. Yes, you can give him chew toys meant for his teeth. No, the brand of cat food likely isn't the reason for his bad breath, it could be he has a dental problem causing it. I'd have him checked out by a vet to be safe. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

    Water additives can help with a cat's mouth health, and it's fine to use this on Sokara. The best way to get rid of bad breath, however, is to brush her teeth daily and get her regular dental cleaning, scaling, and polishings with the vet. If you brush her teeth, you will need to get a cat specific toothpaste and brush. Do not use human toothpaste, it contains ingredients that are not safe for her to ingest. I recommend the CET brand of toothpaste for her, and this line also has toothbrushes. You can get it at a pet store or your vet's office. Good luck, I hope this helps!

My cat’s breath smells fishy. Are there home remedies to this? I can’t buy pet toothpaste right now because of the lockdown :(
Unfortunately there is not much that will help with the bad breath and dental disease at home. There are many solutions on line that you can formulate yourself but I always caution pet owners that any of these can cause GI upset and lead to vomiting / diarrhea. Some formulations that you will find online can be toxic as well. So stay away from the natural home remedies. If you are able to order from an online store, I would recommend an enzymatic toothpaste such as CET oral enzymatic toothpaste. You can also start Tartar Shield Cat Treats and can also find these online. Once the lockdown is over, I would recommend having Darcy's mouth looked at to be sure there is no infection in the mouth. If he is less than 8 months of age, he likely is losing his kitten teeth, and this causes mild bleeding of the gums that can smell not so pleasant. You can use a water additive from your veterinary office or pet store that can help freshen his breath during this period and also use a cat tooth brush to gently brush his teeth 2-3 times a week. Other than that, this phase shall pass and his breath should go back to normal once all his adult teeth are in. Another possibility is that he has a condition called halitosis, in which case the water additives mentioned above are the recommended course of treatment to help resolve the bad breath, which usually comes from the back of his tongue. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend brushing the teeth with a enzymatic toothpaste such as CET enzymatic toothpaste. If the breath does not improve after using this, or the breath worsens I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the mouth to ensure there is no infection in the mouth or other disease. The best way to help this problem is to brush his teeth every day. The stimulation of the gums that happens when brushing will help with the inflammation. You must use a toothpaste made for animals. I don't know what products you have available to you in Tunisia so it's hard for me to make any recommendations.

I am using royal canin hair and skin but I don’t think that the food is the problem because i have 4 cats and they all having the same food and they dont have a bad smell breath
I do like this food and you are probably correct, that the diet is not Sokara's issue. However, that being said, just because something works for the majority of your cats it does not mean it will agree with every single cat. It is possible that this food does not agree with her. I would start her on a probiotic like Fortiflora. Whenever I've taken my cat to the vet, they mention that he has gingivitis. He does need a cleaning which I intend to do, but I'm still saving money for it since they need blood work on him. How well will brushing his teeth with cat toothpaste help h
Once your kitty had his dental cleaning , brushing his teeth with enzymatic tooth paste will prevent the build up of tartar and gingivitis. Brushing his teeth while he still has the excessive tartar will not remove it and also hurt the gums, as the gingivitis is painful. You can use water additives, but in my opinion they do not do much for the breath and his teeth. The bad breath is caused by bacteria in the tartar and below the gums. It will go away as soon as the teeth are cleaned.

If he he has pain he should be seen by a vet to rule out damaged teeth or a broken jaw which requires repair or extraction - brushing will not solve this. I would also recommend using a pet toothpaste or dental hygiene gel as these are more effective and also better accepted as they are flavoured.

Has your vet checked Sokara's teeth? She could have an infected tooth that is causing this issue. I suggest you get her to your vet for an examination. If a tooth is not the issue the other options are diet related. Not the products you are using in the photos but her main staple diet. You may want to consider switching brands of food.
