Puppy vomiting, shaking, and string in stool: Is it serious?

My 5 month Old lab and pit mix puppy just started vomiting today after he came in from using the bathroom ,he started out by vomiting his food and the it progress to him vomiting very slimy yellow liquid , he has not stopped vomiting ,he is also shaking ,before he vomits he makes noises . He doesn’t seem to want to drink water ,he takes food but he just vommits it back up. I also found multicolored string in his stool .

Poor Siberious! If he has string in his stool, I would be concerned that there is more of it in his GI tract causing an obstruction and leading to this vomiting. It's very concerning that he has not stopped vomiting, and that tells he is very sick and needs veterinary care now. I would consider this an emergency situation. If he does have an obstruction, he probably needs surgery to remove it. Leaving obstructions untreated are fatal, which is why I'm recommending an immediate vet visit. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

It seems as Scooby is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

My puppy lab retriever has a fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, weak, shakes/shivers and tries to poop but it's hard for him(my husband thinks he swallowed a rock, but didn't see it) He has had his first set of vaccinations on the 20th of this month.
Poor guy. It sounds like your puppy likely has a severe infection. I would highly recommend getting him seen first thing in the morning at any vet that is open and able. If an ER vet is the only option, then I would highly recommend going there. The vet needs to check your pup for parvovirus. I do hope that your puppy Billy is going to be able to make a full recovery from his illness. Best of luck and take care.

It's possible what you saw were worms, if they were long and stringy and she is also vomiting, or there may be something such as a rope toy that was actually eaten. in either case, a vet visit is a good idea to rule out a foreign body or treat the parasites.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Stuart. It sounds like Stuart is not feeling well at all. Shaking is a nonspecific sign in dogs but could be a sign of discomfort/pain. Vomiting and lack of appetite could be signs of a problem within the GI tract, such as ingestion of foreign material or garbage, or possibly a sign of an infectious disease. It could also be a sign of a problem outside the GI tract such as liver/kidney disease or pancreatitis. As Stuart is still a young puppy with any vomiting or lack of appetite they can have a challenging time maintaining their blood sugar and temperature so I would strongly urge you to have him seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. My husky puppy has worms, bloody stool, and is vomiting. I gave him worm protector but lately he’s been throwing up everything I’m trying to give him and is very weak. What should I do? I can’t afford a vet.
I'm sorry your puppy is sick, but it really sounds like he needs a vet right away. Yes, he may have had worms-but I am concerned that his symptoms may not all be related to the worms or the deworming medication that you gave. Diarrhea with blood, vomiting and weakness are all classic signs of gastrointestinal viruses that can be serious. Your puppy may have Parvovirus or another type, but if he vomits everything he eats and drinks, that really limits your ability to help him at home. He rrally needs to be properly diagnosed and it sounds like he needs fluids and medications which can only be prescribed by your veterinarian. Ask your vet if they offer Care Credit to help you with the paying for the services. Puppies can get very dehydrated quickly and it is important to get him help right away.

Poor Martin! I'm sorry to hear that he's sick. Vomiting can be caused by lots of different things. Some, like a mild upset stomach or eating something that didn't agree with him, are quite minor. Other possible causes are more serious, such as an intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, ingestion of something toxic, or even parvo if Martin isn't fully vaccinated. To help determine how urgent the problem is, I usually judge this based on how the dog is acting otherwise. If Martin is still active and playful, interested in food and treats, and not having any other issues, then I would not consider this to be an emergency - in that case, you could opt to withhold food for the rest of the day today to give his stomach a chance to settle, then offer a small bland meal of plain boiled chicken and white rice this evening. Then, you can take him to your vet appointment tomorrow morning as planned. On the other hand, if he's acting depressed or lethargic, or isn't wanting to eat anything,

Poor Sirius! The signs you are describing are definitely very concerning in puppies, as they can be caused by parvovirus, which can be life threatening. Other causes can be intestinal parasites, foreign bodies, or toxin ingestion. I recommend having Sirius seen by his vet as soon as possible, you can bring a fecal sample in a disposable container to help your vet rule out intestinal parasites quickly. In the meantime, offer Sirius small amounts of water, and withhold food for his next meal. You can offer about 1/2 of his normal portion for the following meal, and monitor him closely. I woke up this morning to my dog farting and having liquid poops all over the house, and now she is throwing up.
I recommend getting your pet in to be seen by your veterinarian right away. Continued vomiting and diarrhea together are very concerning and can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance as well as low blood sugar. She might have eaten something that either disagreed with her or something that has gotten stuck somewhere in her gastrointestinal tract. She could be sore from a hidden injury you are unaware of, she could have been exposed to some sort of toxin or irritant in her environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. Your pet may need IV fluids to help support his/her system and to be fasted at the same time in order to give the gut a rest. Your vet can do an exam, blood work and possibly x-rays to determine the cause of the illness and suggest an effective treatment plan.

Hello! My puppy is vomiting. He is in high spirits still, but he has vomited three times tonight. He chewed up a table leg today and has been nosing around in the show which might have salt in it.
If he was older I probably wouldn’t be as worried, but those little guys can get dehydrated so quickly. If he vomits again I think he should be seen at an emergency clinic. He could have just irritated his GI tract from getting into so much stuff today. However, I also worry about parasites and viral infections such as parvovirus. If he continues to vomit, starts to have any diarrhea, or if tomorrow he won’t eat then those are all signs that he should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. He may need anti nausea medication and some fluid therapy. They will likely want to take an x-Ray and test for parvovirus. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

My 6 month husky has vomited a total of 6 times today. The last 4 times have been in the last 2 hours and her vomits consist of food that hasn’t been digested. She is drinking water. But not what she normally drinks
Oh no, poor Sophie! Vomiting undigested food can be indicative of a serious medical problem such as pancreatitis or a foreign body lodged in her GI tract. It could also be that she ate something rotten or could have a severe GI illness. Given that she has vomited four times in two hours and is vomiting undigested food, I feel the best thing for her is to take her into a vet right away. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her vomiting. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options which may include IV fluids and a shot to stop the vomiting. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
