My dog had a puppy. Is panting 2 days later normal or more coming?

My dog just had a puppy on mon first litter.but she's been panting again like she gonna have more it's been 2 days.could she still have more this late?

No, it would be very unlikely for Daisy to have more puppies two days after giving birth, and if there were more puppies, they would probably be dead. What probably is causing the panting is her uterus contracting. When the puppies nurse, they stimulate her uterus to contract, leading her to pant. This is a normal postpartum behavior, and it should pass over time.

If the panting is non stop then it is not normal but panting after giving birth is considered normal in the first 24 hours after birth. one of the reasons could be exhaustion but it could also be due to milk fever which is a condition caused by lack of calcium due to milk production. in such a case i would recommend a vet visit to check her calcium level and rectify it accordingly (usually by injection and oral calcium).

My dog just gave birth yesterday but she has been panting a lot since and when she came back inside after going potty she had a what looked like a long blood clot hanging out. Should I be worried?
Yes, I would be somewhat worried. It is possible there is a retained piece of placenta or puppy (likely non-viable) still inside her. Panting is usually indicative of pain/discomfort. I suggest you take Luna to the vet for an exam. If you take her in, be sure to take the puppies with you.

I took pixie to the vets yesterday 20/8 at 2 pm after I was growing worried about the welfare of her, she had passed a little blood so I wanted to get her in for a section. Luckily I did as she was found 2 have 4 pups 1 of which died 12 hours ago and
I'm glad you took Pixie into the vet! French Bulldogs often need c sections to give birth. The panting can be normal. When the puppies nurse, that stimulates the release of oxytocin, which then causes the uterus to contract and leads to the panting. She's likely digging to make a nest for her puppies. It isn't unusual for a dead puppy to be born long after a healthy litter is born. It is likely that the puppy was stuck in the birth canal and took longer to deliver and died while being stuck, or it could have been dead in utero and was later expelled with the last placenta. Usually there is no problem with the mother provided she eats, drinks and takes care of her puppies. If she gets lethargic, or if she has smelly discharge from the vulva (greenish non-smelly discharge is normal) then she should be seen by a vet .

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Snowy. She is likely getting close to delivering her pups. Most dogs will pant, pace and become restless in the hours leading up to labor. You can also monitor her body temperature. Usually the temperature will drop below 99 degrees Fahrenheit approximately 24 hours before labor. I hope this information helps!

Pregnant cat panting rapidly and meowing but no pushing
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If Daisy is panting and pregnant close to term then she is likely going in to labor. If she isn't close to being due she should see a Vet right away. I would have her somewhere quiet and calm. Keep children, a lot of people and animals out. If there isn't a kitten born in 2 hours with this panting she should be seen by a Vet. Panting in cats is not normal in any other situation. I wish you the best!

My dog was outside and breathing fast.. i get him under AC and after 7 hours he still breath fast! But he played with me , run and eat. What’s maybe wrong?
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. It sounds like Lassie may have gotten very hot outside and needs to pant to cool off. Dogs cannot sweat to release heat, so they have to pant to breathe off heat. As long as Lassie can settle down and act normally, eat, drink, etc, he should be OK. I hope this is helpful!

My dog had 6 puppies today but no after birth she is still panting. Is this normal? Her last puppy was born at 11am
If you have not had a veterinarian take x-rays to determine how many puppies are left you should take her to your veterinarian or an emergency hospital to make sure all puppies are out. She could still be in labor. Low calcium would be another possibility. This could also be a behavioral change. I would not be too concerned about no afterbirth or placentas - it is fairly rare for them to cause a problem when retained.

Hello, my dog gave birth on May 14th. However, she is still panting and looks like she is having a hard time cooling down. Is there something I can do to help her or should i be more concerned and take her to a vet?
I would recommend seeing a vet. She could have a low blood calcium that is causing her panting and restlessness; or it’s possible that a puppy was left behind. Your vet also might determine that it’s nothing to be concerned about but it would be best to see a vet first.

Why does my puppy keep panting so much and her heart is beating really fast.
Hi there-Daisy may be very anxious, causing her heart rate to increase and panting to exert excess heat. If she is hot she will pant like this as well. If she seems painful or is having a hard time breathing well I would take her in to see your vet as soon as possible.
