My puppy has parvo and is getting worse. What care does he need?

I brought my moms dog to the vet he has been leaking blood from back end and nlthing but blood now. Before we left the vet it was alittle chunk but now its straight blood. The vet told me it was parvo. When we got home he couldnt walk or stand up, like he was weak. The vet has him on a 3 day treatment. Now hes not using the bathroom at all hes not puking peeing or any thing hes also walking around really slow. I was getting him to drink out my hand but now it wont work. Could this be parvo?

Oh your poor pup! If he isn't fully vaccinated, then yes it could be that he has parvo. This is a highly contagious and very deadly disease. You need to follow the vet's course of treatment carefully, and be sure to rush him back into the vet if he gets worse. You can offer him small amounts of Pediasure using a syringe or small turkey baster. It's very important to keep him hydrated, as dehydration is the number one cause of death in these patients. He also needs nutritional support such as Nutri-cal, available over the counter perhaps at your local pet store. I hope this helps, and I hope he survives this terrible disease! Best of luck.

My puppy tested positive for Parvovirus and it’s been 5 days he has been fighting the disease.i have be giving him hydralyte.What else should I do to treat him as the vet told me there is nothing they can do about it? :(

A stray puppy, diagnosed with parvovirus, all symptoms have gone worse, surviving, how to recover him when we all have availability of only home remedies?
Poor little Orioz! Parvo is unfortunately very deadly and has no cure. Only intensive supportive treatment is his best chance for survival. You need to get him into the nearest vet for medications. He needs medications which include antibiotics (injectable Cefazolin or Ampicillin is needed if he isn't eating), anti-nausea medication (i.e Cerenia or Metoclopramide), and nutritional support (Nutri-cal, available over the counter perhaps at your local pet store). Fluid therapy in the form of IV fluids is extremely important. As long as he is getting fluid therapy, he is getting much needed electrolytes which is greatly beneficial towards his improvement because dehydration is the number one cause of death in these pets. You can also offer him small amounts of Pediasure using a syringe or small turkey baster. Get him into a vet right away, and I'm sorry he has parvo :-(

Oh no, poor Gypsy Dawn! Dehydration is the number one cause of death in these animals, so you need to keep her fluids up. You can offer her small amounts of Pediasure using a syringe or small turkey baster. She will also need nutritional support such as Nutri-cal, available over the counter perhaps at your local pet store. Parvo is a medical emergency, and because it's so deadly, the sooner you can get her into the vet, the better for her. I wouldn't recommend waiting until the morning, I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now. Good luck!

Hello. The most important thing to look for is an increase in any vomiting &/or diarrhea. Then, is he eating & drinking some? If he totally stops eating & drinking & has vomiting & diarrhea, you need to have him seen immediately. Generally with Parvo, puppies should be hospitalized & receive constant fluids, anti nausea & antibiotic medications. It is difficult to treat them for Parvo at home. Can give food to my pup if he suffering from parvo
It really depends on the clinical signs and condition of your puppy. If the puppy is vomiting than he probably will just vomit up the food. If he is able to keep food down without vomiting than you could feed a small amount of a bland diet and see how he does. He may need intravenous or subcutaneous fluids, anti-vomiting medications, and an antibiotic so he should be treated by a vet.

It sounds like your puppy is extremely sick, and parvovirus can take a few weeks for a dog to fully recover. It's very concerning he is not drinking as dehydration is the number one cause of death in these animals. He should see a vet again immediately, please take him into one now. Best of luck.
