My cat has a bite wound. Should I take her to the vet right away?

Poor Caramel! In all honesty, it would be best to take her into a vet now, especially since I can't see her in person to say how bad is the bite. In my opinion, it's better to be safe than sorry. She needs to be checked out to make sure there is no internal damage from the bite, the wound needs to be cleaned and possibly sutured, and she will need antibiotics to prevent any infection. Yes. I would recommend to take her to the vet. The doctor will likely put her on antibiotics to try to clean up the infection. You also need to make sure that she is not licking at the area as this can make it worse. She should wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and be kept indoors completely until the wound is completely healed. My cat has wound on her right leg most likely from a fight with another cat. It seems like there is two small holes and a lot of fur missing. How can I treat it? Is it imperative to see a vet?
Unfortunately cat bite wounds can become infected very quickly and often there is further damage under the skin that isn't apparent from the outside. For those reasons I recommend your cat get checked out by a veterinarian as early treatment can prevent future complications such as muscle infection. In the meantime keep the area clean and dry and keep your cat indoors. Do not give any human medications as they can be toxic to cats.?

My cat came in from outside with what looks like a bite on his face, above his eye. It looks like it has pus coming from it
This could definitely be from a bite, or there could be another reason for the infection. It's best to get this seen by a veterinarian, because there could be something under the skin that will continually cause an infection is it's not removed. This doesn't appear to be an emergency, but it's best to have her seen in the next day or two. For now, you can try the following: 1) Clip the hair around the area and expose all of the sore skin. 2) Wash/spray the area with just warm, clean water (no soap or other antiseptics) for at least 5 minutes at a time. Do this twice a day. I hope that helps and Cymba gets better soon.

I'm worried about a bite wound in my cats left shoulder. He spears to have been in a fight last night. Is there anything I could or should do for him?
Ouch! Bite wounds should always be treated by a veterinarian sooner rather than later. Often times bite wounds can be very deceiving and do not look bad on the surface, but once it is properly explored ends up being much worse than initially expected. Miata's wound is very close to the elbow joint, making even more important that it be evaluated and treated by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

We just discovered that our cat has been injured. I think it can be another cat that bit him. Some hair is missing and there is a bit of blood in the wound; however it is not actively bleeding. How can we clean the wound or do you think we should we
I would recommend for your kitty to see the veterinarian. Infections tend to heal significantly faster and with less complications with antibiotics. You also will need to make sure he does not lick at the wound as this will make it worse. Have him wear an Elizabethan collar at all times and keep him indoors until it is healed. Typical healing is expected to take 10 to 14 days in most circumstances. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi, my cat Tammy has an open wound which she just gotten today.. she was a stray cat and we took care over her every since so she has the habit of going out almost everyday for a few hours before coming back, which we discovered she gotten her wound.
I would recommend a vet visit for Tammy, given the location of this wound she will likely need some anabiotic's to prevent infection. That's a deep wound. Your cat needs to be taken to the vet right away. If she was attacked by another animal, she needs to be updated on her rabies vaccine, and likely needs a course of antibiotics, which can only come from your vet. That wound may need to be cleaned and explored as well, depending on how it looks on exam.

I would strongly recommend taking her to your vet as she will need to have an antibiotic injection to prevent an infection from surely happening. the are should be clipped and clean as much as possible but a course of antibiotics is crucial.
