My pet licked topical spray. Is it harmful? How to stop licking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

Vet has ordered Hexachlor-K conditioner 1 spray every 12 hrs for 14 days, was told to spray it in her coat and leave it in. What happens if she gives herself a bath or licks where we sprayed? Is it harmful? If so how do we put it on her and prevent her from licking it?

I don't see any warnings on the product about it being a problem if the animal ingests it when licking it, but to keep her from licking it off, I would keep an Ecollar on Missy while you are using this spray. I will put a link below on how to make an Ecollar for a cat at home. I hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ffR-LzyW1M
