Can Petco Vet Services trim my cat's nails if he has sensitive paws?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 16 lbs

Does Petco Vet Services trim cat claws? He's not crazy about me touching his paws, (maybe because his previous owner had him mutilated by declawing him). I gently rub his paws as I pet him but stop if he pulls away.

I am sure they would have no issue with trimming Shaq's nails if he will cooperate since it is the same process as it is for dogs, but this may vary by location. I would recommend that you call your specific store to ask this question.

We're not associated with any one clinic, and are actually a veterinary Q&A forum service! It would be best to contact the Petco you visited directly for more information about their vet services. Most vet clinics (and even some grooming places) can trim nails.
