How to socialize my scared 7-month-old puppies with people & pets?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 12 days old | 20 lbs

Our dogs are almost 7 month old littermates. We tried to start socializing them when they were around 14 weeks (after their Rabies shot). They are both very scared of new people and animals, to the point of barking and/or growling. We are trying to put them in a daycare once a week to get the used to new people and other dogs. Are there any other suggestions on how to socialize our 7 month old pups? Did we wait too long? To socialize them we just started taking them places with us every week

Continue with gradual introductions. Correct any negative behavior immediately and praise /reward good behavior. Be consistent. You can also try a pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, to decrease any anxiety.
