My dog was exposed to Parvo. He's tired and hot. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 9 months and 28 days old | 5.5 lbs

My neighbor just told me her puppy has tested positive for Parvo. She suspects her puppy got it from the dog park we all go to. I am worried because my dog has been very tired and not himself recently. His body is very hot. I'm not sure if I need to take my dog into the vet to have him tested for Parvo. Thank you!

I am sorry to hear about your puppy! If you feel he is lethargic it is never a bad idea to have an exam! In particular if he didn’t finish his full course of puppy shots then he is more vulnerable to the disease. Be sure to keep him away from your neighbors dog and yard as well!
