My German Shepherd puppy is vomiting and won't eat. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | 6 months and 9 days old | 60 lbs

I have a 6 month old German Shepherd. She’s been vomiting and won’t eat. It’s been 3 days that she won’t eat or drink water. I took her to the vet and told me everything was fine with her, but she’s looks worse that yesterday. She’s been laid around all day. She doesn’t have the energy to do anything. What do I do ??

It's very concerning that Kasey hasn't eaten or drank in three days, and that she is looking worse than yesterday. I think she needs to see a vet again immediately, as it sounds like there is something seriously wrong with her. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. I hope this helps!

    Poor Faith! She sound very sick, and I think she needs to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Hello, thank you for your question about Gismo. Vomiting and inappetance can be a sign of many possibly underlying conditions. It can be a sign of a problem within the GI tract such as an obstruction, inflammation (gastritis), or infection. It can also be a sign of a systemic problem such as pancreatitis, liver disease, or kidney disease. Depending on Gismo's age the likelihood of each of these possibilities varies. Since it has been 24hrs and Gismo is still feeling ill I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian. With continued vomiting dogs can become quite dehydrated. The veterinarian can perform an examination and look for abnormalities. Based on their examination they can discuss the need for diagnostics such as abdominal x-rays or systemic bloodwork (to look for kidney/liver abnormalities). The results of these tests can help determine the necessary treatments, which may include an injection of an anti-nausea medication, IV fluids, etc. Hope this helps!

It sounds like your puppy may have either a lot of worms or a canine parvo-virus infection. You need to make sure she is well hydrated, give her water directly into her mouth by the spoonful. I am sure there are vets in Nigeria. Hello, You can try to syringe her water to keep her hydrated and rub syrup on her gums to prevent low blood sugar. However, Olie must see a veterinarian to determine the cause of vomiting and receive proper treatment. It is possible if you switched Joys food suddenly it could cause vomiting and sever gastric upset. However if Joy is still not wanting to eat I would take her the vet for possibly a fecal and abdominal x-rays. It is possible Joy has parasites, severe gastritis or a foreign body blocking her intestines. You can try a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice for 12-24 hours is small amounts. Hi there! Sorry to hear that Luna is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Luna reevaluated since she has not improved to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on anti-nausea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

It sounds as Jackey is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

German Shepherd Dogs are prone to a variety of stomach and gut problems including exocrine pancreatitis, IBD, food allergies, plus , like every dog, can get gastro-intestinal infections. You can take her off food for about 12 hrs then feed her bland food such as boiled rice and boneless boiled chicken in small portions and divided over several small feeds /day. If she does not start to eat or cannot keep her food in , then you will need to take her to your vet for an exam and appropriate medications.

This is very very concerning and he needs to be taken back to a veterinarian. There is a possibility that he has an intestinal obstruction, or other serious intestinal problem, The next step would be xrays to see whether there is excessive gas and something blocking the intestine or stomach exit (pylorus). Please take him back to your veterinarian for a recheck.

ANy abrupt change in behavior or attitude or sudden symptoms should be checked by your vet. He may have overworked himself and was simply tired, but that still doesn't explain the vomiting. Deep-chested dogs like German Shepherds can have their stomach flip over onto itself when playing, especially after a meal. I would get him to see your vet today to make sure there isn't anything serious going on, and if there is, to get on top of it so it can be treated right away.

I recommend to call your veterinarian. Puppies can vomit for many reasons but something like a vaccine reaction may be the cause and this needs to be treated. Your vet will make a recommendation based upon her exam yesterday. Just so you know, German Shepherds need to eat diets formulated for large breed puppies. This helps to ensure that they grow and develop properly. I recommend Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy. It will ensure even, normal growth and is very easy to digest because the GSD can be prone to an upset stomach. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
