My dog is losing teeth. What should I do if her teeth are falling out?

That's not good that Charlotte has lost most of her teeth! This is a sign of severe dental disease, as her teeth should not be falling out. I would make an appointment with her vet tomorrow to discuss having a dental procedure done. The vet can examine her remaining teeth, extract those that are diseased, and can clean her remaining teeth. It's very important to have this done because leaving dental disease untreated leads to further health problems such as liver abscesses and endocarditis from the bacteria from the teeth traveling through the bloodstream. The vet can also discuss an appropriate diet for her now that she is missing teeth. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

If Charlotte's breath is very bad, that does suggest dental problems. She likely is swallowing her teeth if they fall out, dogs do that. She really does need to see a vet for these problems, this is not something you can treat at home. I would see if you can borrow money from family and friends to afford the vet, and I can give you some resources that may help. You can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. My dogs only 9 and has just had to have 3 teeth extracted by her vet, is it normal for her to start losing teeth at this age? Should I be conserned?
It isn't normal for a pet to loose teeth, but it is expected to happen if you aren't keeping up with your pets oral hygiene. Pets should have their teeth brushed by their owners at least 2-3 times a week, and sometimes even daily or dental disease will ensue, leading to unstable periondontal bone, friable gums and subsequent instability of the teeth. I would recommend doing your best to keep up with Lottie's dental care by getting a dog friendly toothbrushing kit and starting to brush her teeth often. Then getting her teeth regularly cleaned annually by your vet should be next on your list of important things to do to keep up with her oral hygiene. You will notice a significant improvement in the quality of her teeth if you take these necessary steps and she will thank you for it because this will significantly reduce her chances of losing additional teeth in the future. My 8 year old Lhasa Apso has 4 bottom front teeth that appear to be quite loose. His other teeth look healthy
These bottom teeth probably have significant periodontal disease or may even be fractured causing them to be loose. They should be extracted. Even though Charl's other teeth seem okay, most periodontal disease occurs below the gumline and may not be obvious without a full oral exam under anesthesia and x-rays of the teeth. I would recommend talking to your vet about a dental procedure.

Your dog is missing some of the upper incisor teeth. They probably fell out either due to trauma or infection; infection is most likely. There is nothing you can do for that now. But you can make sure the rest of her teeth stay healthy so she doesn't lose any more teeth. The ones I can see in the photo have a lot of tartar so I suggest you have your vet evaluate the teeth and schedule a dental cleaning. My dogs teeth look really bad. I feel horrible because I never thought of dog dental. What can I do? I know that I can take her to the vet. But what can I do if I can't afford it? :(
It's great that you are thinking about Charlottes dental health. Your vet will examine Charlotte and then give you a plan to do the dental cleaning. Care credit is a good option for things like dental care that allow you to pay it off over time, often with no interest. Otherwise there are low cost clinics in many cities that often will do dental cleanings at a lower rate or based on your income.

Poor Chewy! Yes, most veterinary clinics are able to perform dental procedures. It definitely sounds like he needs an exam and dental work to address his rotten teeth and significant periodontal disease. I would recommend calling a veterinary clinic in your area to make an appointment for an exam. The doctor there can give you more information about exactly what he needs once the exam is done.

I noticed my dogs lip was getting pushed up so I examined her teeth. I noticed the bottom left (on her) incisor was pointed at a different angle. I barely touched it and immediately it wiggled around. She has not had any decrease in appetite and stil
It sounds like the tooth you are referring to is the lower left canine when I look at your picture, rather than an incisor. Because it is a canine tooth that is affected, I would recommend that you make an appointment and have your vet take a look. The canine teeth have very large, strong roots and leave large holes when they come out. I am glad that she is still eating, but it sounds like you do need to get her in. Even if she needs to have it extracted under anesthesia, this is a better option than opening her up to a potential infection, which could be very serious if it were to involve the bone of the lower jaw (mandible). There are also other changes your vet can look for that may have caused the tooth to become loose in the first place, such as a tumor of some kind in her mouth. A tooth falling out is definitely a concern and a sign of severe dental disease. While it is not an emergency tonight, I would recommend an evaluation by a veterinarian as he will likely need anesthesia for a full dental cleaning, dental x-rays and extractions of any diseased teeth.

Have her examined by your veterinarian. She may have significant periodontal disease if teeth are falling out or loose and she has bad breath. A complete dental cleaning (under anesthesia) may be necessary it is possible she will lose more teeth. Once that is done, she will likely be healthier and more comfortable.
