What causes reddish-brown fur on my dog's front paw pad?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 7 months and 19 days old | 80 lbs

I noticed the fur in between my dogs paw pad is turning reddish brown. it’s only on 1 paw and it’s the front. It does not seem to bother him and he never licks it. Can anyone tell me what this is?

This looks like a normal change in hair color. This skin doesn't look infected or red. The fur can sometimes change from moisture or from the saliva if they are licking. I wouldn't be too concerned about this unless he starts to lick it obsessively or the skin starts to get red. I hope this helps!
