Can my pit bull mix eat large breed kibble and share with a Dane?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 40 lbs

Is it okay to feed my medium size pit bull mix kibble that is meant for large breeds? I’m getting a Great Dane within the next couples weeks and was just wondering if they could share the same food.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is OK to feed them the same food. I would only suggest not feeding a puppy food to Luna, and would wait until the Dane is off puppy food before feeding them the same food. Great Dane puppies require a giant breed puppy food that has a different calcium and phosphorus amount to help with their growing bones. I hope that answers your question. Best of luck with Luna and your new Dane.
