My dog hurt his paw camping and won't walk. Is it a serious injury?

I agree, it does sound like King's paw is really hurting him. I'd avoid touching it for now. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

If he won't put weight on it, that means he is painful. He could have injured himself. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Without seeing him in person, I can't say how serious this is, so you need to have him seen by a vet. I'd take him into one tomorrow. I hope this helps.

If you’ve checked her paw and it’s normal she may be holding her foot up because she has injured her knee and doesn’t want weight on the leg. Knee injuries are common and when first injured dogs hold it up like you are describing. If it’s a knee injury it can heal with rest if the cruciate ligament isn’t fully torn, if it is torn then she may need surgery to repair it. I recommend leash walks only for potty breaks for a week. If she isn’t using the leg normally after that time then please bring her in for and exam and diagnosis. There are of course other possibilities like a fracture, bone tumor, among other possibilities that are less likely. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for assement and treatment. Further diagnostics such as radiographs would be performed depending on what the examination findings are. Check the leg carefully from the toes to the shoulder to see if there is a broken nail, something in his paw, any heat or swelling in a joint or a specific area of pain. If everything feels normal he may just have a mild injury or bruising that will heal with rest. Keep him confined and go out only to potty until he’s using the leg better. If you find something wrong and he’s not improving in a few hours to a day then a veterinary exam is indicated. They will do an exam and an X-ray if needed. Poor Boomer! If it's not visibly swollen, I would give him a little bit of rest/limited activity to see if it improves the foot. However, if it is swelling, doesn't improve with kennel rest, or is painful/causing him to yelp or limp badly, then it is best seen by your vet as soon as possible. Until you can be seen by your vet, continued kennel rest (leashed walks only, limited time on foot, etc) can help reduce further injury and discomfort.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Rocco! Yes it could just be sore soft tissue. I’d rest him for 1-2 days and see if there is improvement. But if there is no improvement he should see your Vet. He is young and if there is a fracture we want to know that sooner than later. Possible causes of Bruno's limp are: strain or a sprain from being stepped on, if he is older it could have aggravated arthritis, a toe or a bone could be broken, or it could be something unrelated like Lyme disease. Since Bruno can hardly walk on the leg that indicates pain. I recommend having Bruno seen by your Vet for an exam.
