My dog has been having diarrhea for a few days now when me and my family aren’t home, or during the night. I am concerned he might be sick or have some type of infection. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 25 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kobe. He will need to see his veterinarian as it does not sound like his diarrhea is resolving. I usually start with fecal testing to look for intestinal parasites, another infection or a bacterial overgrowth. This allows me to know which medication to prescribe. A lot of times I will send home a probiotic as well. In most cases, this will resolve the issue. In the meantime, it is generally safe to withhold food for 18-24 hours if he is otherwise healthy. This will rest the gastrointestinal tract and can potentially resolve the diarrhea. Be sure to provide plenty of water so that he does not become dehydrated. I hope this information helps!
