My senior hamster is squeaking loudly. Is it old age or illness?

Hello. My hamster squeaks a lot, but he never done that before. I am very concerned about his behaviour, because he has cold and it's already 4th day when he gets treatment by antibiotics and homeopathic medicine. Also he is about 2 years old and i know that hamsters doesn't live long. So my question is what can it be when he squeaks loudly a lot and no one is around? And if it's not because of illness, can it be a sign of the old age? Also sometimes he trembles. Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Male | unneutered

I’m sorry to hear about this with your hamster. As you mentioned, 2 is quite old for a hamster so we have to take that into consideration. His increased vocalizations are likely due to discomfort, probably from his illness. I would recommend taking him back to your veterinarian for a recheck just to make sure nothing else is going on.
